Italian university students seem to be optimistic about the future of the EU. They think the EU is a big project that can give youth a hope, and Italy can take advantage of having good examples to follow. They hope a real union between European citizens and a real integration also in the university field.
I giovani universitari italiani sembrano generalmente ottimisti riguardo al futuro dell'UE, ritengono che sia un progetto che possa dare speranza, soprattutto ai giovani e che l'Italia possa trarre vantaggio dal far parte dell'UE, soprattutto in termini di recepimento di validi modelli. Auspicano però che si realizzi una vera e propria unione tra i popoli ed una maggiore integrazione, anche relativamente al mondo universitario. Soprattuto nelle facoltà scientifiche, ci dicono gli studenti, si respira già un'aria europea, ma è necessario che le normative amministrative e didattiche siano maggiormente concordate a livello europeo e siano più omogenee ed agili.

Os imigrantes desempenharam desde sempre um papel importante na Europa nas áreas da ciência, medicina, tecnologia, economia arte e cultura, direitos humanos e sociais, desportos. De facto, ao longo da história, alguns deles tornaram-se cidadãos importantes nos seus países de adopção.
A população migrante na Europa era de aproximadamente 42 milhões de pessoas -9% da população da UE 27- no ano 2005. (Nações Unidas – Dep. De Assuntos Económiocos e Sociais). Nos anos mais recentes, esses imigrantes são responsaveis por 75% do aumento populacional da União Europeia. Sem imigração adicional, a população da União Europeia irá diminuir 139 milhões de pessoas até ao ano 2050; mesmo com uma projecção de um aumento mediano no número de imigrantes por ano, a população da UE irá diminuir 96 milhões de pessaos (Previsões Demográficas Mundiais, ONU,2003).
Immigrants have always played an important role in Europe, regarding science, medicine, technology, economy, arts and culture, human and social rigths, sports. In fact, some of them became remarkable citizens throughout history, in their nation of adoptance.

In the recent years, those immigrants accounted for more than 75% of the population growth in European Union.
Without aditional immigration, the European Union will decline 139 million people by the year 2050; projecting a medium raise on immigrants each year, the EU population will still decrease 96 million. (World population Prospects, UN, 2003)

Justin Olusunde works for an organisation called ReZolve, which runs sustainability projects that have not only environmental objectives, but encompass economic and social sustainability goals as well - the projects offer young people opportunities for training, voluntary work, and paid employment. Young people are an essential part of what the organisation does. Justin says that young people’s involvement is important because they represent the future of the environment, and they are keen to become involved because they are committed to it. He says that Third Sector organisations have a crucial role to play in building bridges between young people and environmental concerns across Europe, because it offers a unique experience and is very successful in reaching young people who are disaffected from governmental bodies.

Entrevista com alguns jovens portugueses, presentes no dia do emprego, em Coimbra, no dia 26/09/2007 e que nos falam das suas expectativas e da sua disposição de procurar trabalho noutros países da UE.
Criada em 1993, a EURES é uma rede de cooperação entre a Comissão Europeia e os Serviços Públicos de Emprego dos Estados-Membros do EEE (os países da UE, e a Noruega, a Islândia e o Liechtenstein), e ainda outras organizações parceiras. A Suíça integra igualmente a cooperação EURES. Os recursos conjuntos dos membros e parceiros EURES fornecem uma base sólida para que a rede EURES preste serviços de elevada qualidade a trabalhadores e empregadores.
O objectivo da EURES consiste em prestar informação, aconselhamento e serviços de recrutamento/colocação (adequação da oferta e da procura de mão-de-obra) em benefício de trabalhadores e empregadores, bem como de qualquer cidadão que pretenda beneficiar do princípio da livre circulação de pessoas.

Set up in 1993, EURES is a co-operation network between the European Commission and the Public Employment Services of the EEA Member States (The EU countries plus Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein) and other partner organisations. Switzerland also takes part in EURES co-operation. The joint resources of the EURES member and partner organisations provide a solid basis for the EURES network to offer high quality services for both workers and employers.
The purpose of EURES is to provide information, advice and recruitment/placement (job-matching) services for the benefit of workers and employers as well as any citizen wishing to benefit from the principle of the free movement of persons.

O Alargamento da UE é considerado por muitos como fulcral para a resposta da Europa à globalização. O crescimento de 6 para 27 Estados membros tem permitido um crescimento notável, tornando a UE a maior economia do mundo, apesar de comportar receios e desafios.
Actualmente, estuda-se mais um dossier sobre o Alargamento, que inclui 3 novos países candidatos, entre os quais, a Turquia. O pedido de adesão da Turquia à UE remonta a 1987, embora apenas recentemente se tenham conhecido desenvolvimentos nas negociações. Este processo tem suscitado enorme discussão entre os Estados membros em torno de questões económicas, políticas e sociais, dadas as características peculiares deste país.

The EU Enlargement is considered by many as fulcral for the reply of the Europe to the globalization. The growth of 6 for 27 States members has allowed a notable growth, becoming the EU the biggest economy of the world, although it has some challenges.
Currently, is in discussion another Enlargement process, that includes 3 new candidates countries, between which, Turkey. The Turkey request for the adhesion to the EU was registered in 1987, but only recently has known developments in the negotiations. This process has excited enormous quarrel between the States members around economical questions, social and politics, given the peculiar characteristics of this country.
It comes to know the process of adhesion of Turkey to the UE, its dimension and population, economy, cultural and religious identity.

Constitution is the main document or law of every state. European Union is not a state in the traditional
Constitution is the main document or law of every state. European Union is not a state in the traditional sense, and because of this a lot of discussions arise- whether we need a Constitution of the EU at all. And if yes, then what it should be like? What main aspects and regulations should be included in it? It is natural for many Europeans to worry about the possibility of the ES Constitution replacing their National Constitutions. Nevertheless, to my deep belief, their fears are unsubstantiated. Each country in the EU is a sovereign state, free and independent to deal with its inner affairs and problems. Each country keeps its own Constitution, even after the EU Constitution has been adopted. I think that all member states should sit down and discuss all the aspects that are most important to them on the EU level.

Kiekvienos valstybės pagrindinis įstatymas yra Konstitucija. ES nėra valstybė tradicine prasme kaip mes suprantame, ir dėl to kyla daug debatų ar ES reikalinga konstitucija. Ir jei ji reikalinga, tai kokia ji turėtų būti? Kokie pagrindiniai aspektai bei nuostatos turėtų būti įtrauktos į tą konstituciją? Savaime suprantama, kad dalis europiečių baiminasi, kad ES konstitucija nepakeistų jų nacionalinių konstitucijų. Tačiau, mano manymu, tokios baimės yra tikrai nepagrįstos. Kiekviena valstybė ES sudėtyje yra suvereni valstybė ir klausimus, kurie susiję su jos vidaus reikalais, sprendžia pati savarankiškai. Kiekviena valstybė išlaikys savo konstituciją netgi priėmus ES konstituciją. Visoms ES narėms derėtų susėsti ir susitarti tuos aspektus, kurie yra svarbūs ES lygmenyje visoms valstybėms.
